- Is Our Racial Gap Becoming a Generation Gap?
A provocative post from PolicyLink. Nearly half of the nation's young people are of color, but over 80 percent of America's seniors are white. "For the first time," the author argues, "America's seniors, business leaders, and elected officials simply do not see themselves in the faces of today's young. An article in The Washington Post has more background, including a quote from Ciaravella, who claimed he never took money to jail kids ... "This case was about extortions and kickbacks," he clarified. Oh. That makes us feel better. - A 10-Step Guide for Transforming Probation Departments to Focus on Recidivism Reduction
A new resource from the National Reentry Resource Center. Although its premise is the transformation of adult probation, it can also be used as a road map for reducing recidivism in juvenile probation. (Incidentally, it showcases Travis County, TX, a Reclaiming Futures site.) - Webinar - Child Trauma and Juvenile Justice: Prevalence, Impact and Treatment
