- State-Level Juvenile Justice Agencies Disappearing
The number of states with an agency devoted to juvenile justice not subsumed under other adult corrections or some other department is shrinking fast, as states try to save money and adjust to plummeting juvenile crime.

The producer of the "Scared Straight" documentaries (and the reality show currently airing on A&E) defends the program in the face of considerable criticism from juvenile justice experts who point to research showing that it does not work. - National Gang Symposium Co-Sponsored by OJJDP
The 2011 conference, "Progress Through Partnerships," will be held June 7-10 in Orlando. - Bill White Honored as "Leading Historian" of Recovery
William L. "Bill" White, M.A., the prolific author and researcher on addiction and recovery, was honored in November 2010 for his contributions to the addictions field. Mr. White posted here recently on "Adolescents, Young Adults and Recovery Support Groups: Science-Grounded Principles for Juvenile Probation Officers."

Always wanted to start a yoga program for youth in your juvenile justice system or adolescent treatment center? Apply now to the Give Back Yoga Foundation (follow link for guidelines). I'm not certain of funding amounts or deadlines, but I didn't see a geographical focus when I scanned their material. Also, in my experience, these classes can be very cheap to fund.
