Here's a free, one-hour webinar from National Family Dialogue (launched last year by SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment) called "Our Stories Have Power," for family members who have been impacted by substance use and/or co-occurring mental health issues. It will be held May 26, 2010, at 2pm PST / 5pm EST.
Family members can learn how to use their stories to educate the public and policy makers about the need for effective addiction treatment and recovery supports. They can also learn strategies for using their stories to build relationships and partnerships.
Speakers
Judie Didriksen serves as a council member for the Missouri Recovery Network (MRN) and chairperson for the local Jefferson City chapter of MRN. For the past 5 years she has worked with Crossroads Community Recovery Center, focusing on the recovery process for family members. Judie has been active in Twelve Step programs for family members for over 16 years.
Pat Taylor, the Executive Director of Faces and Voices of Recovery, a national organization of individuals and organizations joining together to support people in recovery at the local, state, regional and national levels, will respond to Ms. Didriksen's presentation. There will be time for questions and answers following Ms. Taylor's remarks.
